What health insurance plans do you accept?

Insurance information can be viewed on our Services page.

What should I do if I don't have health insurance and can’t afford the self-pay rates?

We offer a sliding scale for our services, which means that the cost is determined based on your income and ability to pay. At Changing Sails Therapy, we prioritize people over profit and are committed to making our services accessible to those in need.

What happens before our first session?

We will first schedule a free 10-15 minute consultation to help you get to know your therapist and see if they're a good fit for you. We'll also collect your health insurance information, if applicable, to verify your in-network benefits. If everything looks good, we can schedule your first full session during the consultation.

After scheduling your initial visit, our practice manager, Cindy Faria, will be happy to assist you in setting up your client portal on our therapy platform, TheraNest. This will be your all-in-one resource to complete intake forms, manage appointments, and more!

What can I expect in a first meeting?

You will meet with one of our providers to discuss your goals for therapy, your presenting symptoms and concerns, your historical background, and your availability for sessions. We will provide you with guidance on what we feel is appropriate for your treatment and offer additional support and/or referrals.

Can I request a specific CST Therapist?

You may request to work with any therapist on our team. If a specific therapist is unable to meet your scheduling needs, or is not accepting new clients, you will have the choice of being placed on a waitlist or you may choose to work with another available member of CST. If you do have a preference, please include the therapist’s name in your initial contact form.

Is it possible to switch providers if I find that my current counselor isn't a good fit after starting treatment?

No hard feelings at all! If you feel that your current therapist isn’t the right fit, we’d be more than happy to assist you in transitioning to another counselor within our practice if you’d like.

What if I need to reschedule or cancel my appointment?

We understand there are certain events which may prevent you from being able to attend therapy. We request you notify your therapist within 24 hours in order to not be charged a no show/late cancellation fee. If we both agree you were unable to attend due to circumstances beyond your control, we will waive the fee.

What is the therapeutic process like? How do I know if it is for me?

We understand that starting therapy, especially for the first time, can feel incredibly vulnerable and may even provoke anxiety. Our clinicians are trained to go at your pace, adapt to your needs, and stay focused on your goals. As the saying goes, "A stranger is just a friend you haven’t met yet," and similarly, a new therapist is a confidante and guide you haven’t met yet. If you’re unsure where to start or what to say, we’re here to help you figure that out, working at your pace. Some people know exactly why they’re coming to therapy, while others aren’t quite sure. Wherever you fall on that spectrum, we are ready and trained to tailor our approach to meet your needs and help you achieve your goals. We understand that therapy isn’t for everyone, but you won’t know until you give it a try.

If you haven’t found the answer to your question here, please don’t hesitate to email Cindy Faria at cfaria@changingsailstherapy.org.
